CTMH September SOTM Blog Hop & Tutorial

By Helen | August 31, 2010

Something thrilling is going on…the CTMH September Stamp of the Month blog hop…and I’m sure there are a bunch of Hooligans that you’re going to run into along the way.

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, sit back and join us on a journey of amazing things you can do with this stamp set. There are over 60 CTMH Consultants joining in on the fun…that’s a LOT of ideas that YOU can take and duplicate with this fun stamp set. If you arrived here from Melissa’s blog you’re on the right path.

The count called to me to play…and play I did, with a variety of ways to stamp & color him.  In the end, heat embossing won out – with a touch of glitter and twinkle brads, I’m pleased with the light-hearted aspect of this card.

Materials:

Tutorial follows…

For those that want to skip the tutorial, ”hop” on over to my friend Kathleen’s blog to see what she’s created.

If you get lost along the way…here’s the complete list of all hoppers.

Tutorial:

Using Versamark ink and the Count stamp – stamp on a scrap of White Daisy cardstock.  While ink is still wet, pour Black Embossing Powder over image.  Remove excess and set with heat tool.  Tip: I like to use a small paintbrush to remove any stray embossing powder. Tip: Do not handle the face of the paper you’re going to be embossing to prevent finger oils from getting on the paper…which will grab the embossing powder. Tip: Heat the image until the embossing powder changes to shiny…if you overheat it, the paper will absorb the embossing powder and it will lose it’s shine.

Using a sponge dauber, ink around the edges of the embossed image using Gypsy ink.  Cut out.

Using a Blending Pen and various inks (Sunflower, Pear, Sunset and Sky), pick up ink from either the ink pad directly or the lid…that’s my preference.  Tip: With the ink pad closed, gently squeeze the lid so it touches the ink pad – it will pick up ink that you can grab with the blending pen or a waterbrush. Tip: To clean your blending pen…just scrub the tip on a piece of scratch paper until it is clear.

The Lagoon card base is 4.5″ x 4.5″.  Using 3D Foam Tape, adhere the embossed image to the reverse side of the Gypsy dot (revers is a percentage of Sunset).  Tip: 3D Foam Tape can just be torn with your fingers…so easy!

Add two green Twinkle brads to the top right.  The Black cardstock strip is 0.5″ x 4.5″ and is covered with Prisma Glitter.  First coat the strip with Bonding Memories Glue, then apply the Prisma Glitter.  Tip: Attach the strip to the card first will make it easier.  Use the Bonding Memories smaller glue pen for more control.  Keep a damp paper towel handy to pick up errant glitter.

Now… ”hop” on over to my friend Kathleen’s blog to see what she’s created.
