Color Splash – Black, White & a Touch of Pink
By Helen | September 15, 2010
My amazingly talented downline Andrea Ewen has gotten me hooked on the Martha Stewart punches…and…when I found the new Bubble Bath Around the Page set on sale, I just had to pick them up.
I was playing with them on White Cardstock – and layering on different colors – so cool! Then…just by chance, came across the challenge over at The Play Date Cafe, which is a Color Splash challenge…which means, black & white with a touch of color. Ah ha!
Directions:
- Using the insert from the punches for measurements, punch the edges of a White Daisy cardstock panel. Attach to a 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ panel of Black cardstock.
- Using a 1 1/2″ x 12″ strip of Black cardstock, box pleat it. I made my scores at 1/2″ from the edge, then 1/8″, 3/4″, 1/8″ and repeat. Apply adhesive to the 1/2″ sections and position such that the box pleats are centered on the edge of the card – trim any excess.
- Attach the panel to a White Daisy card base.
- Using an empty plastic container, add a couple tablespoons of water and 5 drops of Watermelon Re-Inker. Drop in a 15″ piece of White Daisy Grosgrain Ribbon. Soak the ribbon for a few minutes. Remove and allow to dry. Wrap a piece of ribbon around the box pleats, securing on the back side. Use the remaining ribbon to tie a bow. Secure with a Glue Dot. Tip: Vary the amount of re-inker used to change the intensity of the color. Tip: To save ribbon…secure just an inch of ribbon around the back of the panel instead of completely wrapping around the panel.
- Using Black ink, stamp the sentiment (from the Say It In Style stamp set).
- Using Black ink, stamp the heart (from the Soul Mates stamp set) on a scrap of White Daisy cardstock. Cut out.
- Using Watermelon ink and a Sponge Dauber, gently add ink to just the swirled portion of the heart.
- Attach the cut out heart to a scrap of Black cardstock. Cut out leaving as much of a mat as you’d like. Tip: when cutting curves, turn the paper…not the scissors. That will give you a nicer curve. If your curve has some bumps…isn’t quite rounded, then use the Sanding Block to shape the curve!
- Using 3D Foam Tape, attach the heart.
- Embellish the heart with Licorice Opaque Adhesive Gems.

One of the things I love about being a CTMH Consultant is the ability to make a difference in the life of a child. For just $240 Operation Smile provides life changing clef palette and clef lip surgeries. A portion of every CTMH stamp set sold goes to Operation Smile. Imgaine giving a mother the gift of her child's smile - so rewarding!
