By Helen | March 31, 2010
It’s that time….the beginning of the month brings us a new Stamp of the Month and another Blog Hop. Welcome to the April Stamp of the Month (SOTM) blog hop. With the Flower Pot (D1409) stamp set, you’ll be able to spread sunshine every day of the year!
Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, sit back and join us on a journey of amazing things you can do with this stamp set. There are close to 70 CTMH Consultants joining in on the fun…that’s a LOT of ideas that YOU can take and duplicate with this fun stamp set. If you arrived here from Jenna’s blog you’re on the right path.

Tutorial:
Start with a 6″ x 12″ piece of Sweet Leaf cardstock – this will be the card base. Fold in half. For added interest around the border of the card, let’s create a dry embossed line.
Position the card base so the left side is at the 6.25″ mark on the paper trimmer. You can either replace the cutting blade with the scoring blade or…use a dry embossing stylus and just run it down the track of the paper trimmer.
Turn the card and position it at the 5.75″ mark. Put the front of the card toward the top of the paper trimmer and score a line from the top down to the 6″ mark (the fold of the card). Continue in this fashion to score lines 0.25″ in from all edges of the front of the card.
Using a Foam Tool and Sweet Leaf ink, add color to the edges of the card base. Tip: To pick up more ink from the ink pad, swipe the Foam Tool across the ink pad surface instead of dabbing it onto the ink pad.
I’m all about maximizing paper crafting supplies. In the Wishes book, it tells you to wrap a piece of ribbon around the tag-like panel and tie in a bow. Hmmm….that uses a LOT of ribbon. Instead, I’ll show you how I do it to stretch my ribbon further.
Use the panel that will mount on top as a guide to determine how long the ribbon pieces need to be. See here how there is no ribbon in the middle – which would be under the panel.
And this is the back…the ribbon just wraps around to the back and is secured. Tip: If you are using Liquid Glass to secure your ribbon, apply it to the paper in a thin line. This will prevent the Liquid Glass from seeping through the ribbon and showing on the front. You can also use the Tombow Adhesive to secure your ribbons.
Adhere the tag-like piece to the front of the card.
To add color to the inside of the window and to maximize paper…you know, that’s me…figuring out ways to stretch your supplies…we’re going to do something fun. Instead of describing it, let me show you.
Using Sorbet ink, stamp the window on a piece of Vanilla Cream cardstock and then again on the reverse side of a piece of the Sorbet patterned paper (the reverse side is blue). Tear the edges of the Vanilla Cream cardstock.
Using a cutting knife and the Versamat, make cut outs as shown. Note: When you make the cuts on the blue paper, make sure you leave a large enough border to mount the Vanilla Cream panel on top.
Flip the blue frame back over such that the Sorbet print side is face up and attach the window. See how this makes a nice frame around the piece.
Fill the window using the blue piece that you cut out earlier….line up the stamped images, and now you have a window pane!
The shutters and window flower planter need some color. I forsee using this stamp set over and over again. A quick coloring technique is to create a stencil for filling in the image. Yes, it takes a bit of time to create the stencil now…and…by storing it in the stamp set envelope, I’ll have it ready to use at any time.
Stamp the window on a piece of scrap paper. Tip: I like to use the reverse side of the inserts that come in the paper packs. These have a glossy type finish which is perfect for doing this technique.
Position the stencil over the window image and using a Sponge Dauber and Sorbet ink, fill in the shutters.
Repeat this technique to color in the window flower planter using Sweet Leaf ink. Create the flowers to fill the planter using a scrap of Vanilla Cream cardstock. Stamp the flowers in Sorbet and color in using the quick coloring technique. Tip: For the flowers, create two stencils, one with all the flowers and one for the leaves.
Using 3D Foam Tape attach the window panel to the card front and add the flowers and finish off with a ribbon knot.
The lower right corner of the card needed something….so I stamped additional images using Sweet Leaf ink.
I’m really happy with how this card turned out – hope you enjoy it!
