CTMH April SOTM Blog Hop

By Helen | March 31, 2011

CTMH’s April Stamp of the Month: D1454 Blessed is a great stamp set.  The outline images have coordinating shade stamps to fill in open areas.  Or…color in the images using Watercolor Pencils, markers, or the quick coloring technique (using a stencil & sponge dauber).

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, sit back and join us on a journey of amazing things you can do with this stamp set. There are almost 60 CTMH Consultants joining in on the fun…that’s a LOT of ideas that YOU can take and duplicate with this fun stamp set. If you arrived here from Kathleen’s blog you’re on the right path.

Materials:

Tutorial follows…

For those that want to skip the tutorial “hop” on over to my friend {Tammy} to see what she’s created.

If you get lost along the way…here’s the complete list of all hoppers.

Tutorial

This is the Pieced Together pattern from page 34 of the Wishes How-To Book.

Prepare the Creme Brulee Cardstock before cutting the papers.  I had some pieces left from Scrapbook Challenge 104.  Here’s how to get the “splattered” look on these papers.

Fill a Spray Pen to the 1st line with Smoothie reinker fluid.  Add water to the fourth line.  Mix well.  Mist a piece of Creme Brulee cardstock.  Tip: Place the cardstock inside a box to help “contain” the mist…or…cover your work surface with newspaper or a plastic tablecloth – something easy to clean up. Tip: As soon as you’re done, rinse the barrel of the Spray Pen.  Remove the nozzle and insert the tube into clean water and mist until the tube is clean.

Fill a Spray Pen to the 1st line with Sunset reinker fluid.  Add water to the fourth line.  Mix well.  Mist the same piece of Creme Brulee cardstock.  Tip: Hold the Spray Pen further away to create more of an all over mist.  PLAY!  It’s so much fun and you’ll be surprised by the results. Note: The cardstock may “wrinkle” from getting wet – when you adhere it, it will go flat.

Cut all pieces using the Pieced Together pattern.  I added another layer by adding a 5.75″ x 5.75″ piece of the Toile print from the Bliss paper pack.  Edge all pieces by running them across the Grey Wool ink pad.

Using Grey Wool, stamp both bird outline images on a scrap of Parchment cardstock.  Using a Sponge Dauber and Smoothie ink, lightly ink the shade stamps (the solid image).  Using a Blending Pen and Smoothie ink add details to the birds.  Tip: With the ink pad closed, squeeze the lid onto the ink pad.  The lid will pick up ink and can be used as a palette for the Blending Pen.

Using a Sponge Dauber and Grey Wool ink, ink one of the Kraft Borders.

Add Pearl Opaques.  Tip: Using a Piercing Tool makes it easy to pick up and place the Pearl Opaques where you want them.

Cut a flower section from the Designer Pink Ribbon Collection’s Smoothie ribbon.  Adhere with Glue Dots and add a Pearl Opaque in the middle.  Tip: Trim the organza that holds the flowers as close as possible to the flower without cutting the flower…or…take the extra organza and tuck it UNDER the flower using Glue Dots.

Now “hop” on over to my friend {Tammy} to see what she’s created.
