CTMH August SOTM Blog Hop & Tutorial

By Helen | July 31, 2012

Stylistic, bold, large and dramatic…that’s how I’d describe the CTMH August Stamp of the Month: Baroque Borders S1208.

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, sit back and be inspired by all the projects everyone has come up with.  Follow the hop to get LOT of ideas that YOU can take and duplicate with this wonderful paper pack. If you arrived here from Kathleen’s blog you’re on the right path.

I challenged myself to come up with a creative way to use the stamps and also to create a clean and simple card that could be created in 15 minutes or less!  I was pleasantly surprised to find that this card works well as either a vertical card…

Or a horizontal card…

Materials for Yellow & Blue Card:

Tutorial follows…

For those that want to skip the tutorial “hop” on over to see what {Krista} has created.

If you get lost along the way…here’s the complete list of all hoppers.

Tutorial

Cut the following:

  • 7″ x 10″ White Daisy cardstock for card base, top fold
  • 1/2″ x 7″ Lagoon cardstock
Looking at the double-leafed flourish, I wanted to make sure that I had a reference point for aligning the stamped images.  This stamp has two “indents” if you would along the outer edges.  This is the point I’ll use for aligning the stamp with the mask.
Place a mask approximately 1.5″ down from the top edge of the card.  Tip: Instead of a normal mask…I just used a sheet of copy paper and taped it to the desk pad to the left and right of the card front.  This way, after I stamped the card, I could pull it out, rotate 180 degrees and put it back in for the next go…as you see here.
Add the 1/2″ x 7″ Lagoon cardstock strip.  Then add the new Silver Shimmer Trim over that.  Tip: The Silver Shimmer Trim is adhesive backed!  The plastic peel off piece is CLEAR not white.  I found it easiest to flex the ribbon forward at a corner, then the plastic would POP off the corner where I could get under it to lift it.
So…what do you think of my 15 minute or less self-imposed challenge results???

Now “hop” on over to see what {Krista} has created.

Oh, Helen, I LOVE your card! I often impose upon myself a time limit b/c otherwise, I’d never finish anything. LOL Your card is so elegant!
