CTMH It’s Your Day – NSM Blog Hop & Tutorial

By Helen | August 14, 2012

This adorable stamp set has so many possibilities!  The It’s Your Day stamp set comes with two full D-size stamp sets in one envelope!  How exciting!  It’s made up of lots of little quotes and images perfect for adding to scrapbook pages as journaling jots.  I can see using this for Project Life, a week in the life of…, and so many other scrapbook moments.

Here’s how CTMH used it with the Horizontal Photo Storage Pockets to create a Project Life style scrapbook layout.  Click on the photo to see more details.

In addition to using this for scrapbook layouts, I can see using it for cards…and…with boys, I’m always in need of masculine cards.

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, sit back and be inspired by all the projects everyone has come up with.  Follow the hop to get LOT of ideas that YOU can take and duplicate. If you arrived here from Kathleen’s blog you’re on the right path.

Tutorial follows…

For those that want to skip the tutorial “hop” on over to see what {Melissa} has created.

If you get lost along the way…here’s the complete list of all hoppers.

Cut the following:

  • 4″ x 5 1/4″ Whisper cardstock
  • 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ Wood pattern
  • 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Houndstooth pattern
Then, using the new Cricut Artiste Cartridge, cut the following:
  • Quote shape at 1 3/4″ from Barn Red cardstock
  • Quote shape at 1 1/2″ from Colonial White cardstock

Important Info: Look closely at the stamp set carrier sheet (click on image) and you’ll see that in addition to the SIZE, CTMH now puts the reference page number!!!

Using the Foam Tool and Slate ink, distress the edges of all the papers.  Tip: Instead of pouncing the Foam Tool on the ink pad, I swipe it across the surface.  I find this picks up more ink and helps me to distress faster!
Using Slate ink, fully ink the dots stamp and then stamp it on scrap paper.  Then, using the Foam Tool, apply more ink to the middle of the image, then stamp on the Whisper cardstock in the lower left corner.  This gives an interesting faded look to the image.  Tip: Did you know you can wash the Foam Tool and other Texture Tools?  I use a small container like an empty yogurt container and squish the tool in clear water.  If it’s really dirty…like I’ve been using it on a lot of projects, then I’ll add a drop of dishsoap.  I squish and squish, then change the water.  Keep doing this until the water runs clear.  Then…wrap the tool in a couple of paper towels and squeeze!  You’ll get out most of the water and be able to switch to a new color.

Stamp the Bicycle in Barn Red positioned over the dots.

Cut a 3″ piece of Black Tulle Ribbon.  Pleat it in the middle.  Tip: You can actually crease this ribbon by running your fingers over it.

Then…pleat the Black Tulle Ribbon in the opposite direction.

Attach the Whisper cardstock stamped panel centered on the card base.

Add the Wood pattern strip with the Houndstooth pattern over it aproximately 3/4″ from the top of the card.

Add the Tulle poof using a glue dot.  Tip: Use a needle and thread to hold this pleated tulle together.

Using the masking technique, create two masks for the Quote stamp.

Stamp the Quote on a scrap piece of paper or a sticky note.

Cut out the sentiment, leaving the frame intact. You now have both masks. Tip: Trim the sentiment one a bit closer, as needed.

Position the mask over the Cricut cutout and then stamp as needed.

Position the frame mask so it lines up with the Cricut cut-out.  Stamp the sentiment in Barn Red.  Then, cover the sentiment with the other mask and stamp the outline with Slate.

Mount the sentiment on the Barn Red Cricut cutout.  Tip: If you want the Cricut cutouts to match up exactly, then use the Cricut Craft Room, the Gypsy or the Expression 2 to stretch the mat.

Attach the Quote using 3D Foam Tape.  Tip: If you press firmly on the 3D Foam Tape areas, it will go through the holes in the Black Tulle Ribbon and attach to the cardstock below.

Add Grey Sparkles at the top and on the Bicycle wheels.

I also stamped the inside of the card.

Now “hop” on over to see what {Melissa} has created.
