CTMH: July SOTM Blog Hop & Tutorial

By Helen | June 30, 2012

Sentiments with attitude and style…that’s how I’d describe the CTMH July Stamp of the Month: Live Out Loud S1207.

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, sit back and be inspired by all the projects everyone has come up with.  Follow the hop to get LOT of ideas that YOU can take and duplicate with this wonderful paper pack. If you arrived here from Terry Ann’s blog you’re on the right path.

It’s my friend, Dianne’s birthday today – Happy Birthday to YOU!!!  All her favorite colors are wrapped up in the Stella paper pack.  Believe it or not, this gorgeous card comes together in minutes!  Inspired by a card shared by Julee Tilman on Mojo Monday 245 sketch.

Materials for Yellow & Blue Card:

Tutorial

Cut the following:

  • 7″ x 10″ Colonial White cardstock for card base, top fold
  • 6 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ Cocoa cardstock
  • 6 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ Scale patterned paper
  • 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ Cocoa cardstock
  • 2 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ Olive/Lagoon Damask patterned paper
  • 2″ x 4″ Colonial White cardstock
  • 4 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ Cocoa cardstock
  • 4″ x 2″ Colonial White cardstock

Using the CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge – cut the following pieces (Note: Page numbers refer to the reference book.)

  • <Bttrfly2> at 1 1/2″ from Cocoa cardstock, page 55
  • <Bttrfly2> at 1″ from Cocoa cardstock, page 55
  • <Bttrfly2> at 3/4″ from Cocoa cardstock, page 55
  • <Bttrfly2> at 1 1/2″ from Tulip patterned paper, page 55
  • <Bttrfly2> at 1″ from Tulip patterned paper, page 55
  • <Bttrfly2> at 3/4″ from Tulip patterned paper, page 55
Using a Foam Tool and Cocoa ink, distress the edges of all cut papers and Cricut cuts.  Tip: To get even coverage along the edges of the butterfly, gently bend the edge between the wings.  This creates a “V’ that you can ink easily!  Tip: To get MORE ink on your Foam Tool, swipe the tool along the surface of the ink pad, just like using a sponge to clean the counter.
Using the corner rounder, round opposing corners on the card base and other corners as desired.  I think the charm of this card comes from having odd corners rounded.
Using Sunset, ink the sentiment.  Then, using Tulip and a Sponge Dauber, apply ink to different sections of the stamp.
Stamp on the 4″ x 2″ piece of Colonial White cardstock.  Voila…
Build up the layers, centering each piece on it’s coordinating mat.  Place the Olive/Lagoon Damask & Cocoa mat 1″ from the left edge.
Before adhering the sentiment panel…apply adhesive to the back where the ribbon is going to go.  Tip: Cut the ribbon behind a pleat section, this way, no stray edges hang out.
Attach the sentiment panel using 3D Foam Tape and placed 1 1/2″ from the top edge.
For the butterflies…apply adhesive to the center body section, then 3D Foam Tape behind the wings.  Attach to each corresponding mat.  Tip: Gently fold the butterfly and place the body section down first…help with aligning and gets that part to STICK.
Add the Champagne Opaque self-adhesive pearls to the center of the butterfly bodies.

Now “hop” on over to see what {Kathleen} has created.
