CTMH March SOTM Blog Hop & Tutorial

By Helen | February 28, 2010

It’s that time….the beginning of the month brings us a new Stamp of the Month and another Blog Hop.  Welcome to the March Stamp of the Month (SOTM) blog hop.  A Little Everything (D1408) is a GREAT stamp set…it contains a variety of words that can be combined to make all sorts of messages like:

What sayings do YOU see?  Let’s see how many sayings we can come up with….leave a COMMENT with ones you see and I’ll compile them into a file to share.

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, sit back and join us on a journey of amazing things you can do with this stamp set.  There are close to 70 CTMH Consultants joining in on the fun…that’s a LOT of ideas that YOU can take and duplicate with this fun stamp set.  If you arrived here from Jena’s blog you’re on the right path.

When I saw this stamp set, I was drawn to the scalloped border.  I wanted to do something different with it and thought…circle card!  I pulled out my Wishes how-to book, which contains a variety of circle cards and chose the Richochet pattern to explore….and here’s the finished card.

Tutorial follows…

For those that want to skip the tutorial, ”hop” on over to my talented friend Michelle’s blog to see what she’s created.

If you get lost on the “hop” or find links that aren’t working, check out this post for a complete list of participating consultants and their blogs.

Tutorial:

The Wishes how-to book comes with a CD with templates for the circle card.  I thought…if I really love circle cards (which I do) I’m not going to want to cut these out by hand each time….so I created a Cricut Cut File (right click and save target as…) that enables me to cut two circle cards, and leaves room to the side to add other shapes that I may want to cut with the same paper.  The Cricut Cut File I designed works on the Expressions.

Edge a circle of Sorbet patterned paper from the Caboodle paper pack with Sorbet ink and attach to the card base.

To get the scalloped border lined up with the edge of the circle card, place the block on top of the card and then put the stamp onto the block, following the circle shape.

Stamp the scallops twice, lining up the ends.

Hmmm….it doesn’t quite reach around the circle….we need to add more.  To do this, use sticky notes to cover and “mask” the previous stamping.

Yeah!  Now the scallops go all around the card.

I want my card to say “Thank U.”  The stamp says “Thanks” – we’ll need a mask for the “S.”  Stamp the Thanks onto a sticky note, on the end where the adhesive part is.  Then, cut the sticky note separating the “S” from the word.

I held the stamp over my cardstock to figure out the placement, then put the mask for the S on the cardstock.  Now, I can stamp, positioning the S so it falls on the mask and voila…I have the word “Thank.”

Stamp the letter U from the Posterboard Alphabet on the reverse side of the Sorbet patterned paper.

Use a corner rounder on the Crystal Blue and Sweet Leaf Cardstock.  Using the dry embossing stylus, create a pattern on the Crystal Blue Cardstock, then sand to reveal the pattern.  I used a 1/2 spacing of lines on a diagonal – how cool!  Add a ribbon and buttons and here’s a card that truly says “Thank U!”
