CTMH May SOTM Blog Hop & Tutorial
By Helen | April 30, 2010
So excited about today’s Stamp of the Month blog hop! Why? Because you’re going to see tons of new artwork…and I’m sure that consultants will be playing with NEW products!
The May Stamp of the Month (SOTM) is Cherish the Moment . This is a great set of plaques to use on your cards, on scrapbook pages and other projects. It’s so versatile…you just check the box for which part of the sentiment you want to use, or, check them all.
Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, sit back and join us on a journey of amazing things you can do with this stamp set. There are over 60 CTMH Consultants joining in on the fun…that’s a LOT of ideas that YOU can take and duplicate with this fun stamp set. If you arrived here from Adeline’s blog you’re on the right path.
I’m going to write in the little section on the left, under Congratulations – just have to figure out exactly what to write. This card is going to go to my son, Andrew, who is finishing up his first year of school at Johnson & Wales – he’s studying to be a bakery & pastry artist….thus, the fruit connection.

Tutorial:
This is the Simple Expressions pattern from the Wishes How-To Book. If you’ve never tried a card pattern book before, email me for some sample PDFs to try.
Start by building the base of the card.

The Bowl of Cherries stamp set reminds me so much of Mary Engelbreit’s work – I love her designs, so whimsical and fun…and of course, there are always LOTS of patterns and textures. Stamp the checkboard border in Chocolate across the bottom of the card. Tip: To get the checkerboard border lined up and centered, I positioned my card on the edge of the cushion and then aligned it with the grid on my Versamat. Now…I can position the stamp right in the center!
CTMH thought of everything! The checkerboard stamp is designed to create a continuous border…just keep the stamp facing the same direction and go right across the card.
Stamp the Congratulations stamp in Chocolate on a scrap of Colonial White cardstock. Cut out.
Layer on a piece of Sweet Leaf cardstock. Use the rough side of the Sanding Block on the edges of the Sweet Leaf cardstock. Then, layer on a piece of Chocolate cardstock. Using the direct-to-paper method, ink the edges of the Chocolate cardstock with Chocolate.
Use a Tulip brad to mark the box you desire. Attach to the card base.
Create a mask for the Celebration stamp. Stamp the image on a scrap piece of paper. Tip: I like to use copy paper, as it’s thinner. Cut out the interior portion, around the words.
Place the mask (the portion with the words) onto a scrap of Colonial White cardstock. When I stamp, I’m going to line up the words on the stamp with the words on the mask. Tip: It’s always a good idea to test it out like this to make sure that you’ll have enough room to stamp the entire image…that nothing will hang off the side of the cardstock. Stamp the frame in Chocolate. Cut out. Using the Sea Sponge Texture Tool, lightly sponge with Chocolate ink.
Stamp the cherries in Tulip on a scrap of Colonial White cardstock. Add the stems, stamped in Sweet Leaf with just a hint of Chocolate edging, then add the leaves stamped in Sweet Leaf. Cut out, leaving a portion uncut – we’ll use this section to adhere to the bowl. Stamp the large bowl in Chocolate and cut out. Tip: Having some cherries stamped in 1st generation and 2nd generation gives depth and dimension to the card.
Build the bowl of cherries. Use 3-D Foam Tape to lift the bowl, and tuck the cherries behind.
Add a ribbon knot and…voila!

Now… ”hop” on over to my talented friend Kathleen’s blog to see what she’s created.

One of the things I love about being a CTMH Consultant is the ability to make a difference in the life of a child. For just $240 Operation Smile provides life changing clef palette and clef lip surgeries. A portion of every CTMH stamp set sold goes to Operation Smile. Imgaine giving a mother the gift of her child's smile - so rewarding!
