Scrapbook Challenge 104 – Irresistibles & Tutorial
By Helen | March 27, 2011
This week’s Scrapbook Challenge is the Parlor Trick pattern on page 14 of the Magic How-To Book. One of the BEST parts of attending a CTMH Convention is the Silent Auction. The Silent Auction raises funds for Operation Smile. All of the artwork is donated by CTMH Consultants and CTMH (Art Department and from Jeanette Lynton, founder & CEO of CTMH).
When I saw this one…I knew I had to recreate it. I’m thinking it’s going to be perfect for some of my Caribbean photos…need to get them printed. The original uses the Watercolor looking paper from the Olivia paper pack. For mine, I used the Spray Pen to create multi-colored paper.
Note: The top right photo is a Photo Slide done using the directions from the Raise the Curtain pattern. Here’s what that section looks like opening up – the area underneath can hold a photo or hidden journaling.

Tutorial:
Prepare the Creme Brulee Cardstock before cutting the papers.
Fill a Spray Pen to the 1st line with Smoothie reinker fluid. Add water to the fourth line. Mix well. Mist a piece of Creme Brulee cardstock. Tip: Place the cardstock inside a box to help “contain” the mist…or…cover your work surface with newspaper or a plastic tablecloth – something easy to clean up. Tip: As soon as you’re done, rinse the barrel of the Spray Pen. Remove the nozzle and insert the tube into clean water and mist until the tube is clean. Optional: Add a couple pea-sized drops of Create-A-Shade Pearl Paint to the mix for added glimmer.
Fill a Spray Pen to the 1st line with Sunset reinker fluid. Add water to the fourth line. Mix well. Mist the same piece of Creme Brulee cardstock. Tip: Hold the Spray Pen further away to create more of an all over mist. PLAY! It’s so much fun and you’ll be surprised by the results. Note: The cardstock may “wrinkle” from getting wet – when you adhere it, it will go flat.

Using a paper towel, rub across the surface of all inked die-cuts. This will remove any ink from the “irresistible” section, making them really white.
Ruffled Colonial White Grosgrain Ribbon – run a line of high-tack adhesive where the ribbon will go. I use the Tacky Tape with the red liner (refer to the white arrow in the photo). As you place the ribbon, add a glue dot and ruffle the ribbon (refer to the black arrow in the photo). Tip: If you don’t have mini glue dots…just tear a large glue dot in half!
Ribbon Flowers – Using one strand of Colonial White Embroidery Floss, doubled, knot the end and then do a running stitch along one edge of the Colonial White Grosgrain Ribbon. As you go, pull to gather the ribbon until you have enough to form a circle. Tip: Form the circle, then stitch through the starting point to keep the circle shape. Finish stitching with a knot and cut the ribbon. Tip: Glue Dots will help hold the overlapped ribbon together. Add a Smoothie Brad to the middle of the flower.
For the Large Ribbon Flowers – create a Ribbon Flower as above for the middle. Create a second Ribbon Flower with a larger hole in the middle…the smaller flower will sit inside it.
Cluster of Irresistibles and Ribbon Flower with Smoothie Brad center. Tip: The Irresistibles are attached with either 3D Foam Tape or Glue Dots (or you could use Liquid Glass). Here, the flower and butterfly are popped.
Another cluster – the butterfly is popped.
Remaining cluster – the top right small circle, butterfly and flower are all popped.

One of the things I love about being a CTMH Consultant is the ability to make a difference in the life of a child. For just $240 Operation Smile provides life changing clef palette and clef lip surgeries. A portion of every CTMH stamp set sold goes to Operation Smile. Imgaine giving a mother the gift of her child's smile - so rewarding!
