Scrapbook Challenge 135 – Wonderland

By Helen | January 10, 2012

I’m dreaming of snow…yes, I know, crazy!  I miss the snow.  I love the cold crisp air, the brightness of the winter white, most of all, I love watching my beagle Dax play in the snow!  Of course, my husband Ken would rather do without the plowing and shoveling.  So for now, I’ll dream of snow.

This week’s layout is the Illusion pattern on page 94 of the Magic how-to book.

Tutorial:

Cut the following using the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge.  Note: Page numbers refer to the reference guide.

  • Large Snowflake – Cut 2 – <snwflke1> – page 22 – White Daisy Cardstock at 3 1/4″.
  • Small Snowflake – Cut 4 – <snwflke2> – page 27 – White Daisy Cardstock at 1 3/4″
You will also need the following:
  • Two 2 3/4″ x 1/2″ pieces of Striped paper.
  • One 3 3/4″ x 5 3/4″ of White Daisy Cardstock for title area
  • Two scraps of White Daisy Cardstock 2 3/4″ wide for small sentiments
Cut all pieces as indicated by the Illusion pattern.
Using the Corner Rounder, round the corners of all pieces (except the 12″ long strip for the left page).
Using Chocolate and a Foam Tool, distress the edges of all papers.
Using Chocolate and the snowflake stamps from the Wonderland Workshop on the Go stamp set, add more snowflakes to the Grey Flannel Snowflake patterned paper.
Using Twilight and the Snowflake stamp set, stamp the following:
  • Large Snowflakes – stamp the center using Twilight.  Stamp the dotted outer portion in 2nd generation using Twilight.
  • Small Snowflakes – stamp the center using Twilight.
  • Using Twilight and the Foam Tool, lightly sponge the snowflakes to give them more color.
  • Stamp the sentiment “Winter Wonderland” at the bottom of a scrap of White Daisy Cardstock 2 3/4″ wide.  Trim to size.  Round the corners, then distress edges using Chocolate as before.
  • Stamp the sentiment “Each snowflake…” at the bottom of a scrap of White Daisy Cardstock 2 3/4″ wide.  Stamp the smallest snowflake centered above that, then add the “You melt…” sentiment centered above the snowflake.  Trim to size.  Round the corners, then distress edges using Chocolate as before.
Attach all pieces following the Illusion pattern, adding white organdy ribbon to these two Grey Flannel Snowflake pieces:
  • Long piece at far left of layout
  • Small piece at far lower right of layout
All snowflakes are attached using 3D Foam Tape.
Add sparkles as desired.

Here are some close ups…you can see the Chocolate snowflakes stamped on the Grey Flannel Snowflake patterned paper better in these photos.

Helen, I LOVE these pages! I have been putting off getting this paper and stamps, but they will be on my next order now…partly because of your pages and partly because we got 4″ of snow in West Texas Monday night!?! Can’t wait to scrapbook my snow pics!
