Scrapbook Challenge 26 from CTMH Cherish
By Helen | September 27, 2009
This week’s Scrapbook Challenge comes to us from the CTMH Cherish how-to book. It is the Clear Dimension layout shown on page 102.
For those of you in one of my Get More Done scrapbook clubs, this layout uses the remaining full sheet of the Acorn paper, plus smaller pieces of Check and Geometric papers that remain. I added a sheet of Chocolate cardstock, a sheet of Sweet Leaf carstock (which I’ll aslo use to mat photos), and the two Colonial White cardstock bases.
Tip: After doing the other layouts from the Scrapbook Workshop, I had two thin strips of Check paper remaining. The longer of the two, wasn’t long enough to reach the 9-inches for the left page…so I improvised. I cut it in half, lengthwise and left a space in the middle…then covered the space with the acorn embellishment.
In the Dimensional Elements – In Color Organic pack, I had left over a blue button with a tree on it. Blue wasn’t going to work for me for this layout…so, I adapted it to work. Use Bonding Memories Glue or Liquid Glass to adhere the button to a scrap of Chocolate cardstock. After the glue dries, trim, then sand if needed to round out the piece. I then used the Sea Sponge Texture Tool to add Chocolate ink around the edges. From a scrap of the Acorn paper, cut out a large acorn and a couple of leaves.
Tip: When cutting circles, turn the paper as you cut, instead of the scissors – this gives a cleaner edge. Additionally, if you have any rough spots, use the sanding block to smooth them.
After attaching the acorn and leaves, I tried the embellishment in the space. Hmmm…just a “hair” too short. That’s when I thought of adding the hemp around the chipboard piece. Apply Liquid Glass along the edge and adhere the hemp. Here’s the finished piece up close.
For the right hand page, I cut out the acorn and then edged it with hemp.
Tip: To make the ends of the hemp mate easily, cut them on a diagonal that overlaps – it’s like making a lapped joint.

One of the things I love about being a CTMH Consultant is the ability to make a difference in the life of a child. For just $240 Operation Smile provides life changing clef palette and clef lip surgeries. A portion of every CTMH stamp set sold goes to Operation Smile. Imgaine giving a mother the gift of her child's smile - so rewarding!
