Scrapbook Challenge 46 – A Mix of Papers
By Helen | February 14, 2010
This week’s Scrapbook Challenge is the Open Forum pattern on page 96 of the Imagine how-to book.
Have you been checking out Jeanette’s Color Me Monday posts on her blog? If so, then you’ll find that one of the things Jeanette uses frequently is a mix of papers from different CTMH paper packs. How does she do it? By taking advantage of the monochromatic pattern on the reverse side of the patterned papers! Brilliant!
By looking at the reverse side of the papers, you can start to mix and match papers from different paper packs. Take a guess at what papers are used in this layout…go on, look closely and see if you can guess.

Did you guess that the patterned papers came from Bella and the Jingle Creative Basics paper packs? Really! The Hollyhock paper with the small circles is the reverse side of the Desert Sand paper from the Bella paper pack – here, it looks so soft & feminine. I hope you start looking at your the reverse side of your patterned papers in a totally new way!
I also added Baby Pink Textured Cardstock. What’s really nice about CTMH’s textured cardstock is that the front of the paper is full-strength color (used on the photo mats and journaling spot) and the reverse side is a percentage of the color (used for the long vertical piece on the left-hand page, and the top right piece on the right-hand page).
Here you can see how I sanded the edge of the textured cardstock and how it really shows the texture.
Here’s a closeup of the title. I love adding little unexpected touches, like the drop shadow title or the bitty sparkles in unexpected places.

Want to learn how to do a drop shadow title like the one I made…I teach you how in my video! You’ll also learn how easy it is to line up base/shade images and more!

One of the things I love about being a CTMH Consultant is the ability to make a difference in the life of a child. For just $240 Operation Smile provides life changing clef palette and clef lip surgeries. A portion of every CTMH stamp set sold goes to Operation Smile. Imgaine giving a mother the gift of her child's smile - so rewarding!
