CTMH August SOTM Blog Hop & Tutorial

By Helen | July 31, 2013

Chocolate – isn’t that one of the major food groups?  Well…it is in my book!  LOL.  CTMH has put together a yummy August Stamp of the Month – A Chocolate Affair.

I wanted something fun, and bright.  Adding the fabric makes me think of a candy box.

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, sit back and be inspired by all the projects everyone has come up with.  Follow the hop to get LOT of ideas that YOU can take and duplicate with this wonderful stamp set. If you arrived here from Judy’s blog you’re on the right path.

Materials for Yellow & Blue Card:

Tutorial follows…

For those that want to skip the tutorial “hop” on over to see what {Michelle} has created.

If you get lost along the way…here’s the complete list of all hoppers.

Cut a 2.5″ x 5.5″ piece of the Sweet Leaf patterned paper.

Cut a 1″ x 5.5″ piece of the Scalloped patterned paper.

Cut two 1″ x 12″ pieces of the yellow Chantilly textile.  Tip: You can use your paper trimmer to cut the textiles, even double folded!

Using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge cut the following:

  • <Circle 1> at 1 3/4″ using White Daisy cardstock
  • <Circle 2> at 2″ using Cotton Candy cardstock
Stamp the Strawberry on scraps of White Daisy cardstock.  Once each in Ruby, Cocoa and Topiary.  Cut out, trimming very close to the images.
Reassemble the Strawberry on the White Circle and mat using the Cotton Candy scalloped circle.  Note: See the smudge in the middle of my strawberry…ok…so, that’s why you shouldn’t have a drink that drinks water down the side at your work table…the water was on my fingers when I picked up the piece to photograph it…ugh…so, I redid that piece.
To attach the Chantilly textile to the back of the Sweet Leaf patterned paper, I used the new Base & Bling Adhesive Strips – these are super sticky and worked like a charm to hold the fabric in place.
Apply an adhesive strip to the back of the patterned paper, remove the backing, then gently pleat the fabric into the adhesive.  Tip: Using the piercing tool helps to get the fabric positioned where you want it.  Tip: The tape is forgiving…there were times I lifted and repositioned the fabric without the adhesive losing its grip.
Add the strip of Scalloped patterned paper and mount the strawberry using 3D Foam Tape.  Add a few Pink Glitter Gems and this is ready to send off to someone sweet!

Now “hop” on over to see what {Michelle} has created.

Berry cute and yummy! To me the little smudge was just either some real chocolate or maybe a little drool from thinking about chocolate covered strawberries! Gotta go check out the rest of the hop. Somehow I bet I am going to have to go get something chocolate yet tonight!
