Tutorial:

This new tool from CTMH is going to be so much fun to play with…it’s the new Spray Pen – you get a package of 3 for $3.95 (plus shipping and tax) – what a great deal!

Fill the Spray Pen with Vineyard Berry reinker to the second line (there are lines on the side).  Fill to the eighth line with water.  Add a drop of Black reinker and a drop of Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint and mix well.  Spritz on scrap paper to test and if you like the results you’re good to go.

Important Note: Immediately after use WASH your Spray Pen.  This will prevent the paint from drying inside the nozzle, which could potentially clog and ruin your Spray Pen.

This is a sheet of of 12″ x 12″ Colonial White cardstock sprayed.  Note: The Create-A-Shade Pearl Paint adds a lovely shine and sparkle to the paper…doesn’t show up here in the photos as well as it does in person.

Cut into two 6″ x 12″ pieces for two card bases.

Edge all patterned pieces using the direct to paper method and Black ink pad.

For the pleated paper strip – score the paper at 1/4″ in from the end.  Now alternate 1/2″ and 1/8″ spacing across the entire strip.  Run a strip of adhesive across the whole strip, then fold and pleat as you go.  After securing to the card front, use fingers to lift and lightly distress the pleat ends.

Ink the butterfly with Sweet Leaf.  Now, using a tissue or napkin, pick up ink from the Juniper ink pad and tap onto the stamp.  Repeat using the Vineyard Berry ink.

Before stamping, exhale over the ink, this will moisten the ink.  Here you can see one butterfly stamped in Sweet Leaf and one with the tissue inking method – so cool!

Stamp one more butterfly using the tissue method and cut out all three.

Fold the butterflies where the wings meet the bodies.

To give the wings dimension, use the handle of the micro-tip scissors and run it across the back of the wings.  This will cause the paper to bend gently.

Using the tissue or napkin, ink the outer edges of the butterflies with Vineyard Berry (in the photo, only the Sweet Leaf butterfly has been done).

Add 3D Foam Tape behind each of the wings on all three butterflies.  Now, layer the butterflies together.

Add green sparkles as a flourish.  Note: I used multiple packages to achieve the effect shown.

Now… ”hop” on over to my friend {Kathleen’s blog} to see what she’s created.

Love the dimension of the butterfly and your spraying looks great! Very pretty.
Question for you…do you take pictures as you “play” or do you know ahead of time what you’re going to do, or do you play, creating a card, then make another one for pictures? Just curious.
    Again, beautiful card, Helen.

    Thank you for asking!

I typically have an idea of where I’m going with the project. I have a knack for visualizing in my head. Sometimes, I’ll sketch something out before I begin. As I create, I take the photos.

There are times where the card doesn’t progress as I’d hoped…then, I back up, take new photos and continue onward.
